Coopers Hall
Benefitting from a superb location in Portland’s Central Eastside District, Coopers’ Hall Winery and Taproom is a stunning event space with a chic industrial aesthetic, a strong culinary focus and a wine list that would make Bacchus green with envy.
Capable of hosting up to 200 guests for dinner, Coopers’ Hall has certainly been souped-up since starting life as a mid-century auto body shop. Housed in a Quonset Hut style building, it offers 10,000 square feet of fluid floor space. Double-height arched ceilings bestow a breezy, spacious feel, while wraparound sash windows ensure the venue floods with light. Overhead, string lighting and hanging plants soften the space; the wine barrels framing the room bring a bucolic air and are the perfect backdrop for ceremonies and portraits.
Coopers’ Hall is a paradise for wine aficionados – its selection of 36 wines on tap, many of them local, unmatched anywhere else in the country. Plus, as a leader in the keg wine movement, they’re championing sustainability: cutting down waste and making wine more accessible. In the past six years alone, Coopers’ Hall has avoided using 400,000 glass bottles.
Of course, as a collaboration between AlexEli Vineyards and ChefStable, Coopers’ Hall isn’t short of gastronomic credentials either. Wedding banquets here are events in their own right: Chef Keith Morris celebrates locally sourced, seasonal ingredients with style, while Joel Gunderson oversees the everchanging wine list. Coopers’ Hall will take care of all of your catering and bar needs – and offer every couple a food and wine tasting two-six weeks prior to their big day.
In addition to the main Taproom, Coopers’ Hall also includes a Mezzanine area and Barrel Room – where guests can enjoy a glass of wine while the changeover from ceremony to reception takes place.
Getting ready rooms:
As Coopers’ Hall does not have designated getting ready rooms, many couples choose to get ready at the Jupiter Next Hotel – a short walk from the venue.

A Coopers’ Hall wedding gives your guests the chance to take in Portland’s quirky charms – whether they opt for a whistlestop trip or an extended visit, they’ll find plenty to keep them busy for the length of their stay.
Portland is a foodie paradise – why not browse the food carts at Hawthorne Asylum; or wander down to Division Street, lined with some of the city’s best eateries. Of course, you can’t leave without enjoying one of Oregon’s famous craft beers: Produce Row Cafe – a stone’s throw from Coopers’ Hall – boasts 24 taps and a beer-inspired bar menu.
There’s so much to enjoy on foot too: Hawthorne Boulevard is bejewelled by brilliant and bizarre vintage shops, the Alphabet district serves up cute, kitschy architecture – and we absolutely love crossing the iconic St. John’s bridge and spending an afternoon in trendy North Portland. If you’re feeling lazy, why not catch a flick at St. Johns Twin Cinema: this iconic theater has been keeping crowds entertained since 1913.

There is some street parking around the venue – but given the Central Portland location, many guests may prefer to travel via taxi.

Coopers’ Hall does not have rooms on site – but its central Portland location means there are plenty of places nearby where your guests can get a good night’s sleep.
Nearby Jupiter NEXT (rooms from $230) combines modern industrial decor with breathtaking city views, Kimpton RiverPlace (from $185) offers a cosy waterside resting spot, and it’s hard to go wrong with Woodlark (from $120) – a stylish, sophisticated city hotel.

Photo Opportunities:
With exposed string lighting, a backdrop of wine barrels and an abundance of hanging plants, Coopers’ Hall provides excellent opportunities for wedding portraits. The wine barrels are perfect for family photos while the black building exterior provides an aesthetic backdrop couples portraits with dollops of greenery in silver water troughs. There are also a number of portrait opportunities for the first look or wedding party if you’re getting ready at a nearby hotel like The Jupiter Hotel or The Jupiter Next.

As a totally indoor venue, Coopers’ Hall is an ideal location for weddings all year round – regardless of when you decide to get married, you won’t have to worry about rain ruining your big day.
