The front windows flood the Sunken Living Room with incredible natural light, illuminating this reimagined space, once an old loading dock, now adorned with rustic wood floors that contrast nicely with the minimalism of the white-walled interior and the retro, modern furnishings.

Passing through the sliding cedar doors, you’ll enter the spacious back area, seamlessly connecting the bar and the reception space. This open flow design ensures that you and your guests can mingle and celebrate together throughout the evening, and transition from one event to the next fluidly, fostering a sense of togetherness and connection.

Getting Ready Rooms:

Union/Pine offers two getting ready room options. The first is a cozy, serene room on the lower event-space level called the Green Room with a sofa set, full length mirror and elegant decor. This space can work well for getting into your dress or doing touch ups.

However, the second option, The Loft on the upper story, is preferred for wedding parties and for couples looking for a more luxurious getting ready experience. The Loft is an extension of the rustic, modern, industrial charm of the main event space, with ample window light, green plants decorating the corners, and exposed wood rafters overhead.

Parking Situation:

UNION/PINE does not have a dedicated parking lot, so your best bet is either street parking, which can be tight, a paid parking lot, or using a ride share service for your lodging.

Nearby Attraction:

Conveniently located on the central east side of Portland, UNION/PINE has quick access to downtown and all it has to offer via the nearby Burnside Bridge. Just below the bridge, the Eastbank Esplanade along the Willamette provides an excellent way for guests to take in views of the city either before or after the wedding.

Just across the river, the city hosts the Portland Saturday Market, which can be a great morning activity for out-of-towners. For a fun late-night activity, guests can check out Hopscotch, an interactive art gallery with an abundance of light-based installations. Additionally, Union/Pine is surrounded by numerous wonderful restaurants, providing a diverse array of culinary options to satisfy all tastes.

Nearby Lodging:

Union/Pine wedding venue doesn’t offer lodging, but there are several options just a few blocks away. Between NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and NE Grand Ave lies the KEX Portland Hotel ($118). Additionally, there’s the funky, hip Jupiter Hotel Portland ($109) and its fancy younger sibling the Jupiter Next ($155).

Portrait Opportunities:

UNION/PINE and the surrounding area has a predominately urban, industrial feel, so most portraits will rely on that aesthetic. The venue’s front facade provides a clean, white wall with green plants for accents, while the interior Sunken Living Room provides wonderful window light that can be softened with curtains when the sun is out. The vintage, modern furniture can be nice for cuddly poses on the couches. For more interior options, The Loft is an amazing space, especially for first looks and a quieter environment to kick things off away from the hustle and bustle of vendors setting up and guests arriving.

For couples seeking a more outdoorsy aesthetic in their portraits, a quick jaunt across the river to either Washington Park or Forest Park will be your best bets. The Willamette River and the Eastbank Esplanade are also quite close, and from there you can get amazing views of the city, especially at sunset.
