A friend of mine who also happens to be a wedding photographer told me about Horsethief Butte last year, and I’ve had been meaning to shoot an engagement session out there ever since. It’s a bit of a drive, located out by the Dalles on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, so finding the right couple who would be up for the adventure was important. Naomi and Nick were super enthused when I suggested the idea of Horsethief Butte as their engagement session location, and I couldn’t have had a better couple to explore this beautiful area alongside. Once you hike inside the rocky area of the butte a bit of climbing is necessary to get up to the higher levels, and Naomi and Nick scampered up with ease and settled into each others arms for each subsequent shot like they were on a Sunday stroll. From beginning to end the session was an absolute success, one of my favorites so far from this year, and to top everything off we had the most amazing weather with a beautiful sunset to end the shoot. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day photographing these two at Horsethief Butte, and I’m looking to collaborating with them again during their wedding on the 4th Of July! 🙂 — Kyle
