A Love Story Two Years in the Making
Katie and Ian’s McMenamins Grand Lodge wedding reception was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of Forest Grove, Oregon, this historic venue provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Originally planning to wed in 2020, Katie and Ian eloped instead and postponed their reception until 2022. To keep a piece of their special day with them, they pressed flowers from their elopement in books and later wore them again in a beautifully dehydrated form for their reception.
A Night of Celebration and Memories
Though they opted not to have a formal ceremony, their celebration was filled with heartfelt moments. They had a wedding party, shared a first dance, and enjoyed touching speeches from loved ones. As the sun set, we snuck away to capture stunning portraits with the iconic brick Grand Lodge as a breathtaking backdrop.
The reception was held outside McMenamins Grand Lodge underneath a cozy tent, where warm string lights and a the couples’ last name written in orange neon lights set the mood for a romantic evening. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner featuring local flavors, followed by a unique and memorable dessert experience. Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Katie and Ian fed each other gourmet s’mores made by the 1927 S’mores Company. The property’s charming features, including beautifully landscaped gardens bursting with a variety of flowers and even resident chickens, added to the venue’s enchanting atmosphere.
