I had been eagerly waiting to photograph Morgan and Kyle’s destination wedding in Sonoma, California all year. I mean, who wouldn’t love an excuse to visit the beautiful rolling wine country hills of Sonoma County? Last year, I first met Kyle when he contacted me to photograph him surprise Morgan with a ring at the Allison Inn in Newberg, Oregon. Kyle put in so much detailed effort and passion to make the proposal an amazing surprise for Morgan. If you want to see Morgan enthusiastically say yes you can check that out here. They were such a fun couple to photograph that I really hoped I would have the chance to photograph their wedding, too. But I knew they had come from out of town so I didn’t keep my hopes up. However, I was presently surprised and excited when Morgan contact me a couple months later to photograph their wedding at St. Francis Winery And Vineyard in Sonoma.
There were so many cool little details that went into Kyle and Morgan’s wedding. Some of my favorites included the hand-drawn map of the area printed on the front of their programs, the little mint tins that had “Mint To Be” written on them, and the little flip-flops for their reception guests to wear if their feet got tired. But I’d have to say the most standout aspect of their wedding, aside from Morgan and Kyle and their amazing guests, would be the band. It was just incredible. They absolutely rocked it, and once they got the dance party started it continually got more and more amped and just didn’t quit until everyone was forced to go indoors due to the area’s noise ordinance. Of course, Morgan and Kyle absolutely love to dance. Morgan on several occasions even grabbed me by the hand and insisted that I join in as well. At one point in the night, their was an epic dance-off. It started first with the men and women taking different sides of the dance floor. The women then ran toward the men, Morgan leading the charge, and showed off their best moves. Then the men had their turn. Finally, Morgan and Kyle were left to dance battle each other. They were so evenly matched that all they could do was grabbed hold and kiss each other on the dance floor. 🙂 — KC
