During my same trip to the bay area to photograph the City Hall wedding that I posted last week, I also met Julia and Adam through a friend and we got together at Montara Beach on Highway 1, about an hour from downtown San Francisco, for an foggy engagement-style anniversary session. Montara beach, a hop and a skip away from Half Moon Bay, is an absolutely breathtaking place with its sandy bluffs overlooking the beach, the rocky coastline, and the blue ocean waters extending as far as the eye can see. If you’re ever on a road trip along the California coast, it’s worth stopping and taking a stroll. And that’s pretty much what I did with Julia and Adam, who were so fun to work with. They’ve been married for 8 years and their love for each other is as vibrant as ever. While we were exploring the beach, all it took was a quick suggestion from me to get them dancing, twirling, kicking up sand and falling over laughing. They were just a couple of goofballs having a great time while I took photos and gave subtle direction. That’s what these kinds of shoots should be all about, just having fun with your partner while exploring the beauty of this world and having someone there to document that special moment for you. — KC
