Wow, this engagement session in Yachats on the Oregon coast was so much fun! I’m not actually sure if I’ve spent much time on this part of the Oregon coast before, but I was a big fan. Just south of Yachats is the beautiful Cape Perpetua, where we did the lion’s share of the engagement session. Every half mile along the coastal road passing Cape Perpetua has a cool spot to pull off at, including my personal favorites Neptune Beach and Devil’s Churn. It made choosing the specific shooting locations difficult.
This part of the Oregon coast is particularly special to the couple, Jenna and Joe, because Jenna grew up visiting her grandmother’s cabin in Yachats and playing on the beaches in the area, and now Jenna and Joe continue to do so as a couple. For a hot second, they were actually thinking of hosting their wedding in Yachats, but instead opted for Sauvie Island, which is also a rad spot that I’m looking forward to photographing. Since they decided not to have their wedding on the coast it made perfect sense to shoot their engagement session there. It turns out, I haven’t shot too many sessions on the Oregon coast, something I’ve been longing to do, so collaborating with Jenna and Joe was dream, not only because they were a super rad couple to photograph, but also because they inspired me to explore a gorgeous location in my home state! 🙂 — KC
