Discovery Park + Marian Built Loft Wedding Photography

We bopped all over the Ballard area of Seattle for Maggie and Cody’s wedding, first starting at Discovery Park and later ending the night at Marian Built Loft. While scouting Discovery Park, I found these two amazing trees with incredibly thick trunks. I knew that they make for the perfect framing elements for Maggie and Cody’s first look. We set aside a solid hour just to roam around casually taking portraits. This might seem like a lot of time but Discovery Park is quite large and we wanted to explore. If you’re in the process of planning your wedding, keep in mind that if you want a relaxed portrait experience with a variety of backgrounds it’s important to set aside a decent amount of time to facilitate this kind of experience. Otherwise, you may not have the time to walk to that really cool location.

After taking portraits, the ceremony was held at Ballard Locks on a grassy lawn overlooked by towering evergreens. Their ceremony was so incredibly emotional with plenty of happy tears to go around. They’ve shared many adventures together traveling the world, and they have a very tight-knit community supporting them. Afterward, they hosted their reception at Marion Built Loft. Marion Built Loft is located in an industrial neighborhood just a short jaunt from Ballard Locks. It’s an industrial chic space with lots of metal pipes overhead, white walls and an open kitchen for more intimate events. Maggie and Cody had about 50 guests, so Marian Built Loft was a perfect location for their wedding.
