Portland Same-Sex Wedding Photographer

Love Is Love

I understand that looking for a same-sex wedding photographer can require an extra level of vetting and reassurance. Times are changing for the better, but there are still wedding vendors who create uncomfortable, if not downright painful experiences for LGBTQ couples who are planning their wedding. The last thing you should have to worry about is whether the photographer you’re inquiring with will accept you.

Every couple deserves to be greeted with equal excitement for their love and equal access to fantastic wedding photography without the feeling of judgement or awkwardness. I want to create a safe and accepting environment for every couple so they feel comfortable expressing their affection in front of the camera and feel fabulous while doing so. I bring a sensitive, adaptive and understanding approach to photographing all couples. After all, every couple has unique ways of expressing their love and affection.

Posing And Directing

When searching for a same-sex wedding photographer, it’s important to find one who understands that not all couples conform to the same gender norms. Posing and directing in mainstream wedding photography tends to skew toward cisgender relationships, and you don’t want to end up with a photographer who is not savvy and interested enough to learn about your unique identities.

It’s important to me to sit down with you and your partner so I can learn about the two of you and your relationship. That way, I will better understand how to pose and direct you so that you feel natural and at ease with each other.

I know PDA is not for everyone, especially when surrounded by family. I’m sensitive to our shooting locations and appreciate that your comfort and safety is paramount to feeling in the moment without having to worry about gawking bystanders. If this is a concern for you, I would love to brainstorm some location ideas where you’ll feel most comfortable cuddling up.

Family Dynamics

Sometimes it can be tricky navigating family dynamics during weddings, especially when it comes to family portraits. I want you to be surrounded by all of the supportive and loving people in your life, and during the planning process I will work with you to create a shot list that reflects that.
